How to clean up after rodents
After catching rodents in your home, the next step is to clean up after them. Depending on how long they’ve infested your home for, you might have to clean up after:

- Dead rats or mice

Cleaning Rodent Droppings and Urine
When you find rodent urine or droppings in your home or business, don’t vacuum or sweep the waste or surrounding area. This can stir up dust, spreading the waste around the room and possibly causing dangerous germs to spread.
What you should do is put on rubber, latex, or vinyl gloves and spray the waste with a disinfectant or a solution of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. Let it soak for 5 minutes, then wipe it up with a paper towel and dispose of it in a sealed garbage bag. You can also disinfect items around the waste that you think could have been contaminated to be extra careful.

Getting Rid of Nests and Dead Rodents
If you’ve set a successful bait station or snap trap, you have to get rid of the rodent and any nearby nests. You should deal with the nest the same way you did with droppings, using gloves and a disinfectant. Seal everything in a trash bag after letting your solution sit for 5 minutes. Make sure you place your garbage bag in a regularly-emptied outdoor bin. Finally, always wash your hands well after dealing with rodents or their waste.
