a man installing blown in insulation into an attic

You know how important it is to insulate your attic. Itโ€™s vital for energy efficiency, temperature control, and even sound dampening. But did you know that your attic insulation could even help with your pest control efforts? At The Bug Man, we use insulation engineered for this exact purpose. Our attic insulation is treated with a pest control additive that kills certain pests when they ingest it; this could even stop the next infestation before it can start.

Whether or not your attic is already insulated, you can benefit from our insulation. We can apply it right over the top of your existing insulation if necessary! The best part? Our insulation is made of eco-responsible materials and can be installed in as little as 4 hours.

Insulationโ€™s Role in Pest Control

Insulation is simply difficult for bugs to move through, but thatโ€™s not the only benefit to our insulation. Itโ€™s treated with an additive that kills certain pests, such as the following:

  • Ants
  • Booklice
  • Centipedes
  • Crickets
  • Darkling beetles
  • Earwigs
  • Roaches
  • Silverfish
  • Sow bug

Itโ€™s important to remember that other pests, like rodents and even other bugs, may not be affected by this treatment. If you have an infestation not listed above, you may need other treatments to address the problem.

How is The Bug Man Insulation Different from Normal Insulation?

Our insulation is made of cellulose (a natural fiber found in wood) and 85% recycled paper. The pest control additive, a naturally occurring mineral, is commonly found in household cleansers. It wonโ€™t harm humans or animals in small quantities like this, but itโ€™s still very effective on the bugs listed above.

How Our Insulation Installation Works

As we mentioned before, our insulation can be installed over the top of any existing insulation. Either way, before the insulation process begins, we start with a full inspection. We canโ€™t break down precisely what goes into each service here since every job is different and tailored to your needs. Below are the broad strokes:

  1. Inspection. First of all, we provide a comprehensive inspection of the area. Weโ€™ll look for structural vulnerabilities, excess moisture, and signs of any existing infestations that might need to be addressed first.
  2. Preparation. If we have to perform any additional services, weโ€™ll do that first. After that, weโ€™ll prepare for the insulation process.
  3. Installation. Our insulation is blown in, which essentially means that we spray it over the area with a large hose. It usually takes around four to six hours to install, but can take more or less time depending on the size of the space.
  4. Cleanup. Itโ€™s that easy. Once the insulation is down and all your questions are answered, we clean up and leave.
